I love Kate, but her movie/actor takes have been way too unfair and judgemental lately

First off, her hating Robert Pattinson’s acting is wild. Dude is probably the best actor with the most range of his generation. She only saw only one movie with him and said she doesn’t get the hype. Girl you gotta see more than one film to have a fair opinion of someone’s acting ability.

She also questioned tom holland as Spider-Man even though she never seen a Spider-Man movie. Its ok to not watch something, but it’s unfair to question something that clearly is beloved by many (critics and box office). I agree with her that his performance in The Odyssey wasn’t the best, but a lot of it wasn’t his fault. His character wasn’t really given a lot to work with. I thought he did fine and his performance didn’t take me out of the movie at all.

Also before The Odyssey came out, she was shitting on Matt Damon casting choice really hard. Her main grief was that he is from Boston playing a Greek character. That isn’t really a fair criticism considering majority of actors aren’t hired to play their own race or ethnic background. Hundreds of British actors play Americans all the time without complaint or second thought. Now after watching the Odyssey, you can tell Matt Damon put a lot of work into his role and carried that film.

It just seems that Kate has biases against popular men in the film industry. Her point about Wes Anderson, Tarantino, and Robert Eggers making the same aesthetic movies. That can be said about pretty much any director. Every director has a specific art style and you are going to see similar themes between those films especially if they write and direct them.

In closing, I just wish Kate didn’t have such strong opinions on these things without giving them a chance first or basing an opinion off one role or film a person makes.
