Playing at a wedding, but I need an AMP. Please guide me.
Hello Reddit.
I'm DJing at my friend's wedding in April next year, and I own a JBL Cabaret Series Speaker model 4691b rated for 40 HZ to 20K Hertz, 8 ohm impedance, 103 DB at 1 watt 1 m, 200W - 400W continuous, passive speaker that I've just had for a while sitting around.
The speaker is quite old and was a gift from a friend who moved to a different state. But since I already have DJ equipment, thought maybe it would come in handy to play at this party for about 100 people outdoors without needing to rent too big of a system.
The reason I never used this is I don't have an amplifier yet and my understanding is quite limited when it comes to the technical side of power ratings and audio routing, so I need some guidance on which amplifier would safely deliver the power this speaker needs without straining the amp or speaker. My understanding is that I would need an integrated amp since it would already have a pre-amp and power amp in one unit, is that right?
From what I also understood reading on this, the higher the impedance the less power it needs to run at high volumes? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also can someone please explain the switch that flips between Bi-amplification and Full Range modes, and which setting I should have it at if I'm not running a subwooer separately? This would not* be the only main speaker facing the crowd. Any help is welcome. I've added some photos for specifics that may help you help me.
Thanks a lot in advance yall! <3
