Finally got a chance to shoot, experienced a squib!

Have worked almost every single day for the past 2 months, and have done a little bit of reloading here and there when I had enough energy at the end of the day.

Seated a bullet in a case without dropping any powder, whoops! Reloading while exhausted is not a good idea.

Pulled trigger on chambered round, no boom, no felt recoil. Extracted an empty case, first instinct was a squib. Sure enough when looking through the barrel from the chamber end, no light through the barrel.

Lesson learned here is if something doesn’t feel right, stop what you’re doing and check things out.

Bullet went just far enough down the barrel that I could have easily chambered another round.

Mirage in North Texas was awful after it rained earlier in the day, sun was baking off all the moisture.

The first 2-3 shots the mirage wasn’t so bad, but as the barrel and suppressor started to get warm, seeing the target became very difficult. Forget spotting trace! I’m lacking a suppressor cover, so that amplified the effects of mirage. Didn’t think it made that much of a difference, but I’m now convinced I probably need one. A Can Chap is now on order.

Overall it was a good day, only had to work half of the day, and made good impacts out to 1500yd with 6.5 CM. I’ve got about 350 rounds through the AXSR now, bolt is starting to smooth out a bit. Still have the occasional feeding issue with the shorter 308/6.5 CM mags, but I have heard as you fire more rounds through, it should occur less and less.

I see they each have only a few gates in Terminal E at DFW.

How senior is DFW as a Line base?

At a regional close by, already applied for AA/SWA…but just curious what kind of seniority it would take to transfer back to DFW with United or Delta.

Brand new Bartlein barrel, virgin Lapua 6.5 CM LRP brass, Hodgdon H4350 and some Berger 140gr Hybrids…from start to finish, this was the sequence of events through photos…

Never before have I used my illuminated reticle in practice, but I had to in order to see the black circle I drew as my target (it is the diameter of a sharpie marker cap)

I couldn’t beleive my tired eyes when I walked up to the target after firing the final 10 shot confirmation group after selecting 2.145” CBTO. I think I’ll settle…

All credit really goes to Southern Precision Rifles AKA Bugholes for chambering an awesome barrel. This is the 5th barrel they’ve done for me and each and every one has been a laser beam
