Sub Update - Influx of spam posters, please report any old reposts

hi guys,

i’ll keep this short. multiple times a month, we’ve had what i assume are bot accounts come to the sub and repost old posts word for word. i’ve had to remove an old post about ABT bringing out twyla tharp at least five times now and today’s reposts involved carlos acosta’s reimagined bayadere. i have no idea why they’re doing this, it’s super annoying.

please report these posts as spam or a rules violation if you see them (they’re all new accounts)! thank you!

Reminder: enforcement of rule #1 in regard to ED discussions

hi everyone!

we commented this rules reminder in the last weekly discussion, but wanted to repost considering not everyone might've seen it. i will be co-opting a lot of u/Holiday-Boot-6017's phrasing down below.

we've recently had several posts regarding specific dancers looking thin on social media. while the concern is appreciated, we wanted to remind you that these posts aren't allowed under rule #1.

this stipulation was added at the start of 2026: "we recognize that EDs are a part of ballet, however, discussion/speculation on EDs unless a dancer has been open about it will be removed, per mods' discretion."

we will continue to remove posts about any specific person's body. this includes attempts to armchair diagnose someone with a mental and/or physical condition as well as speculation about drug/hormone/substance abuse to achieve a physique. previous similar posts have quickly turned invasive and disrespectful, regardless of the original poster's intentions.

however, for dancers that have gone public with their ED diagnosis, like oksana skorik, discussion is fully allowed.

this rule is not to suppress conversations on an important subject, more to protect individuals who may be struggling and don't need their bodies picked apart on yet another social media forum. more general posts about weight/EDs, overall weight trends in society, how dance quality may be affected, the practices of different companies and schools, etc. are allowed.

we are always open to feedback via modmail, but do feel as if this rule is important to keep the sub a respectful place.

thank you for understanding!
