New Player. Adore the game. Confused on Lore
Hello I am a new player and this post is gonna be a little over the place as my ADHD is severe, but it has been so long since a game like this has had me in a chokehold. I’m losing literal hours of sleep and socialization because of this game is all I can think about. I’ve canceled plans and even considered calling into work. It’s bad, but nonetheless i’m glad to see others enjoy it so much and it seems the devs are active. I’m very surprised to see this game fly under the radar of all the other survival craft type games. It has phenomenal visuals, fantastic physics, deep and complex systems, interesting and fresh takes on upgrades and automation, deep lore, doesn’t hold your hand, LOADS of secrets and easter eggs, etc. it just seems weird it’s not getting more attention. This game reminds me of half life if it took place in an alternate post apocalyptic version of that universe. Anyway speaking of half life and valve:
I LOVE secrets, easter eggs, hidden locations, unmarked discoveries, etc. This kind of leads into my love of no hand holding and just letting you experiment and figure things out without any kind of guide (return of the obra dinn, prey, dishonored, blue prince, rdr2 in regard to its secrets and mysteries, etc. you get the idea) so thsi game is like my dream game.
The lore is the only thing i’m having problem wrapping my head around. Before getting into it i want to say that i understand that its early access, Im very new and very early into the game, it very may well just be me not understanding what im reading, etc. The data and log entries unlock as you pick up human items left behind and you go to read them and im just confused on who these people are, what they are doing, how they relate to me, why im getting data entries, holographic sheep?, what is a node? theres like 30 separate log entries each with multiple chapters. Again I understand im probably just not far enough to understand a lot of but i can usually get a grasp on a little of what im reading but i feel as these pop up with no relation to what’s happening around me or what i pick up. I’m sorry if i sound ignorant or impatient, just love this and want to absorb all i can. thank you! i’m excited to get father and learn more:)
