Breastfeeding, exercise + weight loss

TL DR: how to lose weight pp without affecting milk supply

I would love to hear some guidance and your stories about weight loss PP while breastfeeding!

I gained a lot of weight during pregnancy (almost 50lb), lost 22 lb when gave birth, another 6-7 lb since then (I’m 5 months PP). I also had about 20 lb extra before I got pregnant from my “ideal” weight for most of my adult life. I feel like that subtle progression of weight loss stopped now and it’s plateaued.

Since LO’s birth even if it was winter I have been walking with a stroller (and now with a stroller in one hand and LO in another) for 6miles+ per day or so. I have an smartwatch that track calories, so my daily goal is about 1100 kcal burned, 70 min active minimum. Swimming season is starting here so I would add that as exercise.

I am very hungry and eat a lot, I think I’m hungry even after I eat. I used to be a heavy smoker, so I would just drink coffee and smoke cigarettes, but because I used to smoke I feel like I have no skills of moderation or trust in how my body is feeling and following that when it comes to food. So I think I need an external guidance system, like tracking calories or such, so I have a bit of a deficit?

LO is exclusively breastfed and is a very big baby now. I think I might even have an oversupply (I have occasional overflow issues and there is always more milk when LO is done eating) ?

How do you know if you have oversupply/ undersupply/ enough milk?

What is the normal calorie intake for a breastfeeding?

How did you eat and lose weight while breastfeeding without affecting your milk production?

Thank you!
