I don't get the point of this code example from Jev

I'm looking at the latest Jev model from Typesafe. I see they have a code example on their website, using Jev to validate extracted data

https://docs.typesafe.ai/cookbooks/sde_cascade

What I don't get is what's the point of this? In the example they've used gpt-5.4-mini to extract and then Jev to check those extractions. To solve this problem, would it's be better (and cheaper) to just use a model like Deepseek 4.1?

Saw this on OpenRouter

Saw this on OpenRouter showing share of spend my model (note the openAI ones are pretty much all GPT Astra-6. It really surpised me that Claude wasn't a larger share of spend. Is this because people are moving away from Claude or just that they're spending directly with Anthropic for it?

US Government & Claude

I think the USA's reaction to Fable is a very dangerous one. There are 2 major hubs for LLM developement, the USA or China. Outside those 2 countries it's pretty much nothing. (I know the UK has deepmind but I'm assuming that's under the USA remit given it's Alphabet owned)

I think the US decision requires a response from Europe/UK policy makers, because from here I can see 2 options:

  1. non-americans use less powerful models, but given we live in a capialist world I cannot see this being a viable option as it gives US companies an advantage
  2. People are 'forced' to start adopting Chinese models more to get access to the same level of intelligence

At this point I think non-US policy makers need to step in and have a voice
