Wondering if there are any travel school SWs on here? I have not had any luck in my area (NorCal) finding a school sw job as there are not many (if any) where I live. I recently learned there are travel agencies that place school SWs. I am wondering if anyone here has worked for such an agency? Thanks!
Hi all sharing this because I feel at a loss. I got a job as a school social worker and was set to start Monday. For context I have basically had this job secured and have done all onboarding for the last 3 weeks now. Two days ago I got a call from the school that they contacted my PPSC program where I am getting my credential and after that “great conversation” they came to the realization that they won’t be able to meet the requirements for my practicum hours. When I asked what requirements the HR mngr said she couldn’t remember off the top of her head. I am so saddened as I turned down THREE other jobs offers I had received and some accepted only for them to tell me this days before I was set to start. I am so sad and very stressed out because now I have no job, no offers, and it seems no schools are hiring anymore as several are set to start in the next week or two. I have no idea what to do now. I am looking for jobs but see none in my area or remote for schools. I have never had something like this happen.
Also for context I am an LCSW in California. I would also like to note that this same job was also somewhat dismissive of my LCSW and mentioned they only cared about the PPSC. I highlighted several times that I always have performed all school sw tasks in all my experience and roles as an LCSW several hats are worn.

Hi all, I got a new job as a school social worker for kids ages k-12! I was wondering if you all had any recommendations and tips to keep kiddos of all age groups engaged virtually and or any other school social worker tips would be appreciated!
I am curious to know how many of you were hired by a school while still obtaining/ pursing your PPSC? I am an LCSW who is going to school for it next month and am having a lot of push back from jobs about when I will be recommend for the PPSC once courses are done (in August). I am in CA for context. Also, a lot of these employers for school social worker want you to at least be pursing your licensure as well. I already have my LCSW, but I am told that the PPSC is preferred and required for these positions. Which I understand, I just don’t get why the reluctance to hire and let someone obtain the PPSC hours needed.

Hi yall. I recently applied and interviewed for a SW job for the VA. I believe it went well because they asked for references and contacted them. 3 weeks went by and I decided to reach out and ask what the status was as I never heard anything after the reference check. After I did this a few minutes later I noticed the position I applied and interviewed for was posted. The person of contact sent me a bland email saying the position I applied for was “canceled.” I thought this was odd and also unprofessional that no one ever reached out to inform me of this and I had to seek out this bland response. Minutes after the first email, the same person emailed me again saying they wanted to correct themselves and share that the posting I applied for was canceled but the position was reposted and to please apply if interested. I have found this entire situation so odd as it’s the VA and I was expecting more from them.

Hi yall, I recently obtained a job as a school sw in a really small district. I am transition from a clinical role (LCSW) and I am going to be at a junior high. I was previously a mental health clinician for kids 3-5 and before that for kids all the way up to high school.

Hi all, I am bilingual LCSW in CA. I got notice I am being laid off from the office of ed I work for. I am honestly very shocked at this as there is a very high need for services. I have known for several months now so I have been looking for work and contemplating getting my PPSC to be able to stay in schools but no one is hiring in my town or within an hour or so away.
Wondering if anyone knows of any openings preferably in schools or any other LCSW in CA that have their PPSC?
