Planning to buy my first car!! Need some recommendations and tips

Hi! After a long process of saving up, I’m finally looking to buy my first car.

First, it’s my first car bought from my own money. I’ve driven family cars in the past but that was years ago since I’ve cut ties with my toxic father, plus madalang lang din naman ako nakakahiram back then. So I’m opting to buy a secondhand one since I would assume that my driving skills and instincts are rusty and close to non-existent.

So far I have a budget of 300K, but since I’m buying a secondhand car I wouldn’t want to spend it all on the unit itself and have some money saved up for emergency repairs (in case). I have zero idea when it comes to checking the condition of a secondhand car but I might have friends and some titos to help me out.

Ideally I would want a sedan with A/T that won’t break down EASILY and CONSTANTLY while using it. And so far here are my top unit picks (Of course these are older models)

  1. Nissan Cefiro - love the looks! but i’ve been told by my titos that it’s pretty expensive to maintain and would cost a fortune instantly once you need to buy new parts for it. Only downside for me is in terms of practicality.

  2. Honda City - Always had a thing with this car ever since that I love it more than the Civic.

  3. Toyota Vios - Lots of people said this one’s the most reliable and practical.

  4. Mazda 3 - Lots of people recommended this to me and so far i think it’s great. Although haven’t done extensive research on this one.

HM: Toyota Altis - Love this one as well but lots of people said na di sya fuel efficient. Although still considering it since work from home naman ako and I’ll mostly use it for errands and leisure.

I’ve done a bit of research and so far these units have caught my eye. Any thoughts on this? As I’ve said it’s my first time buying a car so would really love to get insights as much as I can. Thanks in advance!
