Encinitas awarded $33.6 million federal grant to implement quiet railroad crossings
E street, D street and Leucadia Blvd crossings to become quiet (trains will not be required to blast horns).
Grant can also be applied to two at-grade crossings north of Leucadia Blvd and one underpass in Cardiff.
The city has to match a portion of the funds to receive them.
