Help me understand Medea by Anselm Feuerbach

I'm trying to understand Anselm Feuerbach's Medea (after Euripides) from 1870, and I'm confused by the specific scene he's depicting.

I know the general story about Jason abandons Medea, she takes revenge by killing his new bride and her children. But the painting doesn't seem to match a scene I remember from the play.

In particular:

  • Who is the man beside Medea? Is it definitely Jason? If yes, why he is crying, the kids look still alive.
  • Why does he appear so grief-stricken?
  • What's the significance of the boat in the background? Is it tied to a particular moment in the myth, or is it symbolic?

Emacs with Ghostty-like Liquid Glass Effect

I have been experimenting support for Emacs with Liquid Glass, current results are acceptable to me so far, so I thought of sharing it as a patch on top of the emacs-plus brew formula. I have not tested this thoroughly yet, expect unfamiliarities. Feedback is more than welcomed https://github.com/larrasket/emacs-liquid-glass
