Big price increase - negotiations?

My tutor increased their price from around $9/hour to $14, and eventually $25/hour. I've been studying with them for over 2 months now (2 classes every week). I’m one of their older students, so I still pay the old rate ($9) for now because of the legacy pricing system, but I’m worried they may eventually ask me to switch to the new price.

So I wanted to ask tutors: would you ever be willing to negotiate a slightly lower price for a long-term, motivated student? For example something between the old and new rate?

I’d honestly feel a bit ashamed asking for a lower price because I really like this teacher and totally understand why they increased their rates. At the same time, going from 9 to 25$ per class is a huge jump financially for me.

Would asking about a compromise rate be awkward or unreasonable?
