Hip popped (2 weeks out)

Hi all- 51F and had an anterior THR on 6/18. Everything has been smooth sailing until Thursday. I overdid it at PT (felt good at time) but I have been so sore. On Friday, I developed a softball size hematoma under the skin. It is warm to the touch and I have muscle soreness in both legs but no redness, fever, etc. Then today, I was trying to get on bed- scooting back and lifting the surgical leg and definitely felt a pop. It could have been normal things moving around but I’m terrified. I can still walk and bear weight- but things feel different. When I lift up the surgical leg (to walk) i have a weird pain (almost like a charlie horse pain). Has anyone had this? Im currently waiting on the ortho resident to call me back but o don’t want to go to the ER on July 4th if I don’t have to.

One week out!

My friends- if you can make it the first week, you will be okay. Please give yourself permission to rest, nap, eat good food (focus on protein), fluids, elevation, ice, ankle pumps and the good drugs. Go into this knowing that you will not sleep through the night. Find the best place that you can get comfy- mine was a recliner. Feel free to ask any questions! ❤️

New shoes?

Hi- I am getting my THR next week 6/18/26. I have had my Hoka Bondhi’s since January. Will they still be good for my recovery? Or are they worn in the wrong ways from my bad hip? I am able to slip them on- just worried about continuing bad habits. Thanks all!

THR scheduled 6/18/26

Hi- I am reading through all the paperwork for my THR coming up on 6/18. In multiple places- I am told not to get a bug bite, scrape, scratch, nick or cut or that my surgery could be cancelled. Do they mean ONLY in the hip area? Or anywhere? I am a Kindergarten teacher and we go outside daily and I’m thinking I need to start wearing bug spray.
