Some bar recommendations to catch up with a mate! 🇬🇧🇦🇺🇻🇳

Hi all, Me and my Girlfriend will be meeting my friend in Hanoi around late December who I haven’t seen in a while as he has been in Australia.

We’re into drinking on stools, bars, pubs, rooftops, wandering with bottles, basically any type of drinking etc.

We would like to know some good spots to do:

  1. Quiet drinks catching up just me and him

  2. Drinks with a good atmosphere

  3. Places with a good atmosphere to be on New Year’s Eve (31st Dec)

Please let me know ! Thanks

My first proper landscaping project. Thoughts?

Hi everyone, just completed this small project, really chuffed with it.

Removed the weeds
Flattened the soil
Laid a weed membrane and pegged it
Covered with gravel

Anything I could have done better next time? Wanted to keep the rose bush.

Playing sports in south East Asia 🥊🏓

I’m planning on travelling south east Asia with my girlfriend at the end of the year, and I’m interested in getting involved in local or tourist sports scenes.

I can play football, volleyball, table tennis and can do some sparring.

I know Muay Thai is the national sport in Thailand, which we will be looking forward to do, but what is the sport scene like in other countries?
And where is good to get involved?

Do games happen on the beach for example, or in local parks in the evening? Sorry for the silly questions.

Thank you.

Horse riding in Yunnan (Shanghai-La and Lijiang) 🐎

(copy from my post in r/travelchina)

Hello Everyone,
Just curious as I’ll be travelling to yunnan next year, returning to China but this time south China🇨🇳 .

If I want to do horse riding and horse trekking, where is best for it? I’ve heard **Shangri-La** is my best option but I would like to know what people who’ve been think.
Other option being **Lijiang**

I was thinking about arriving and asking the hotel to set me up with a **老板** who can arrange it, and try use my broken Chinese to help me out a bit with logistics.

Thanks in advance

Is East Java+Bali good in December? Help with my route!

Me and my Girlfriend are hoping to travel SE Asia and China from December through to May. We’re hopefully planning to start in Indonesia and then travel north to China through Thailand, Vietnam, etc which makes the most sense to me anyway.

I’ve researched the weather should be good for everywhere else but in Indonesia in DEC it can cloud the views especially at great places like Bromo.

However it could also be fine.

Anyone got any ideas which could help?

Help me make a packing list!

Hey everyone, I’m hoping to travel SE Asia for 6 months at the end of the year doing DEC-MAY.

I’ve down trips out of small and large backpacks before but I’ll be using 50L.

Usually I’m a really bad over packer so I’m going to need someone to give me a list of essentials of what they’re glad they took and what they wouldn’t take lol.
