Reversal of Roller Blind
I had a roller blind in the kitchen of my old house. I fitted all new blinds to every window in the house when I moved in April 2016. Every evening I would close the kitchen blind, and every morning I would open it. The blind had a looped hanging chain on the right hand side. I would pull the back of the loop to close, and the front of the loop to open. I didn't have to think about which side of the chain to pull - after years of repeating this task it just became muscle memory. I'm talking a good 4-5 years of opening and closing that blind. One evening as I go to close the blind - it opens. The chain configuration was reversed. The back of the loop was now open, and the front of the loop was now close. I thought I was going mad. I asked my partner to attempt to close the blind and she immediately pulled the same side I had attempted. I wasn't going mad. She was also convinced that the blind configuration had reversed. I removed the roller blind and began to strip the pulley and chain mechanism in an attempt to reconfigure it to the way it used to be but I was unable to. The blind configuration was permanently reversed and I still, to this day, have absolutely no idea how this was possible. I've since moved out of that house and still think about it every now and again.
