Visiting mom in Japan, told her about you guys

I am visiting my mom in Japan (she’s Japanese, I’m American) and had to take pics of the wall of tinned fish for y’all. Then I had to explain Reddit and the tinned fish subreddit (and then, subreddits in general). The one thing I didn’t need to explain is that “I’m loosely affiliated with a group of people who are very into tinned fish,” as that seemed totally normal to her.

Yoga in Kyoto (En/Jp)

Hi everyone! I’ll be visiting my mother in Kyoto during this May 2026. I’ll be staying near Nijo station with family, and I’d like to share with my mom my love of yoga.

So, I’d like to take a few yoga classes while in town. I am into all kinds of traditional practice, but am especially interested in yin/restorative so I can take my mom. My mom is new to yoga, and I want to help her find a studio that she will love and continue to practice after I leave.

I do not speak Japanese so I am not sure if that will be a problem, but I’m willing to try a Japanese language class. My mother is Japanese and speaks both Japanese and English.

Btw, I am not interested in hot or “power” yoga.

Please let me know any suggestions you may have! Thank you. Can’t wait to visit your beautiful city and help my mom build her yoga practice.
