A couple issues

Anyone run into these and have a fix?

  1. I can’t fully power down (via power button) the device without removing the batteries. After holding the power button, the led goes dim and the screen just goes blank. I can’t even turn it back on without removing the batteries first. The only way I can fully power off is via the OS.

  1. My cursor works but not very responsive - upgrade recommendations?

  2. Using Rex’s Trixie image, but no wireless is detected unless I use a usb adapter. - CM4 doesn’t support the main board’s wireless but the CM5 (WiFi version only) does

4. It won’t detect my SD Card as a storage device. - Looks like the eMMC versions are unable to use the SD Card slot at all.

Won’t boot from SD card

Looks like it detects the SD card but won’t boot, trying the official Uconsole image, and Rex’s Trixie but no luck

I also get a timeout when trying to boot from USB

Edit (solved): I was using the eMMC version of the CM5 which does not allow SD card boot.

uConsole Battery drain?

So still working on getting the screen working, but I noticed that when I power off, the power led stays dimly lit, I woke up this morning and the battery was dead.

Anyone else have this issue?

Edit: Seems to charge normally but I get no light indicating that it is charging

I have the uConsole NC-D using a RPi CM5.

I have made sure all the connections are seated properly and secured

Edit: I was able to connect to a monitor and see that holding the power button only dims the light it doesn’t power it off

Screen not working

So I finally received my Uconsole but the screen isn’t working.

I’ve made sure the ribbon cable is seated and secured properly.

I’ve tried the Uconsole images and the AK-Rex images but no luck.

Should the screen work right when powered on or does it take the OS time to detect? Idk

Any suggestions?

Battery upgrade (Z2E)

What is a good battery for the Ally X (2025) Z2E? I don’t want to cheap out and want something that give a noticeable bump in battery life.

It looks like an easy enough upgrade.

Bazzite vs Windows (Xbox Games)

It seems the majority of people prefer Bazzite, it looks very clean, but I noticed it is primarily for Steam games and looks like I could add emulators, etc.

But can I play my Xbox (PC) game library locally on Bazzite. I can’t find a definitive answer but it looks like it might be only available via cloud streaming.

When people dual boot, do they typically have Bazzite for Steam, and Windows for Xbox?

  • I have a 4TB SSD, and an SD Card for emulator storage.
