Mike Koglin sampled Enjoy the Silence and released The Silence back in 1998. This was during a time when trance had become highly commercial, and I remember the track being played on MTV and radio stations.

This interview with Mike by Muzikxpress (a Dutch trance fan) has some interesting insights into the licensing approval process. Apparently Martin personally approves everything, which surprises me given how much power the labels usually hold.
