Specific psychology courses for admission?
I graduated with my bachelor's in psychology a couple years ago, and I am currently considering doing a clinical psych or counseling psych PhD in the future. I currently work as a research coordinator at an academic institution.
I noticed that some programs require having taken undergraduate courses in specific areas of psychology, such as learning/cognition, developmental, etc. Although I took a variety of psych classes during undergrad, including a senior research thesis seminar, I never ended up taking a course on developmental psychology. Is it common for programs to require courses in specific areas of psychology to be considered for admission, even for people who graduated with a psychology degree? Do you think it's worth it for me to take a course in developmental psychology at another institution, or is this requirement rare?
Thanks for any insights!
