American moving to Curitiba
Hello everyone, I'm an american moving to Curitiba later this year after semi-retirement (late 40s). Trying to learn Portuguese although its not going great lol but I hope to know enough to get by once I'm there. This is technically my first time going to curitiba.
I know Curitiba gets beaten down a little in this forum for its weather and being a little "boring". but I'm older and need quiet & Tranquillo. So it should be ok.
Here are the things I could use help on:
- Medical insurance? This is important. I need to buy some sort of health insurance which gives me good emergency coverage and some basic coverage where I can pay some out of pocket. Does anyone have any suggestions? ( I do not have CPF)
- Where to live? I heard Batel is considered good for gringos and foreigners. Any other suggestions? I wont be driving, so proximity to train/bus/grocery/restaurants is the only requirement
- Housing? I am allergic to mold. Can anyone please recommend any newer communities in the Batel area (or other suggestions) that are really good.
- Socializing: Are people in Curitiba open-minded to meeting up & socializing with foreigners like in other big brazilian cities?
