Frank Beard of ZZ Top passed away/C2C sample in ZZ Top song.

Frank Beard, ZZ Top's drummer and the only member of the band without a beard!, passed away monday.
Billy Gibbons was known to be a fan of C2C, and was a guest on the show several times, but never with Art.
In 1999, their LP XXX had a song called Dreadmonboogloo, which featured a clip of Ross Mitchell announcing the show in the song. I know Art was aware of this, but i am not sure he ever used the song as bumper music, though he did use other ZZ Top songs as bumper music.

10 weeks till Halloween/A ghost to ghost a week !!

So I am gonna listen to one G2G episode a week till Halloween. It's too bad we wont be getting a Art hosted G2G this year, or ever again.
Tonight I listened to Ghost to Ghost 1993.
I haven't played this one all the way through in years. Probably the last time I heard it start to finish was the weekend before halloween 2006, when it was ran on the Sunday before Halloween 06.
Some interesting calls in this one. Notably, Pavo in Canada with a few second call about his shrine to a certain WW2 era dictator. Artstopped him very quickly.
Art has a very different demeanor here. Old school Art I guess.
The callers were, well a lot of the stories were from the 40s/50s/60s and 70s. Fitting for the time frame of this shows airdate. More than a few oujia board stories, which Art does not mention his own oujia tale, he does say at one point he learned a lesson about oujia boards.
As usualy with the early G2G shows, he tells a story told to him by someone else to intro the evening.
Another thing I noticed is most of the calls are from the west coast. There is one from Birmingham Alabama (Possibly a shortwave listener?).
Art also notes his 90 mile each way drive to and from Vegas each night, and how creepy the drive could be on the way back. I guess he was not yet broadcasting from his compound in Pahrump yet.
The difference in callers is very noticable from when the show really broke nationwide 94/into 1995. More than a few of these callers were from various locations in Nevada, including one from Pahrump.
Next week, Ill listen to G2G 1994, another one I have not played start to finish in years.

Hawaii police officer ghost stories.

2 vidoes came up in my suggestion on youtube tonight, and both of them rang a bell.
Didn't a police officer from Hawaii call into the show one night and speak of these ghost sightings?
The training facility one is reallly sparking something in my mind and making me think I heard about it on the show.
Here is the first one, a lady in white ghost,

Sigh. Some of the Youtube channels are getting silly.

This upload of G2G 1995 came up in my suggestions today. Billed as the "First Ghost to Ghost". Complete with AI garbage art.
Come on people.
He mentions G2G 86 in this very episode.

A little update, I had to run out for a minute so I played this while in the car. Whoever put this together, at points, seamed together upwards of 5 mins of Art reading ads. Its also not all G2G 1995, some of the calls are from other years.

Give me some good Dreamland episodes !!!

So I have never really fully explored Dreamland. My station did not run it back in the 90s, on weekends they just ran a repeat of C2C on Sat and Sun, one at 9 and one at 1 am (the 9 one on sats usually got over-ran by sports of one type or another).
I have heard a few over the years, but I just never sat down and went through the show.
So give me some of Arts best Dreamland shows to check out !!

Beat the heat with some classic Art Bell !!

It's foul out there folks. I live in GA, and it has been freaking smoldering outside the past few days.
My job was closed for the holiday weekend, I am off till Weds. Asides from a few trips to the store, early in the morning, or after dark, I have not left my house.
I have been cooling off with some video games and a constant flow of classic Art Bell episodes. The past few days, I have been going through Midnight in the Desert.
One of my fave episodes of MITD is "Elaine-Bigfoot in the Backyard".
Stay out of the heat everyone !!

Open Lines- December 22nd, 2006

A friday night open lines hosted by Art. A rarity in this era of the show.
Art kicked off the holiday weekend, he would host all 3 nights. The Christmas Eve show, sunday, was Dave Sereda. I recall listening to that one, as I recall listening to this night of open lines as well.
These shows were just about 2 weeks before I said hell with it and gave up listening to Coast. Things had gotten so boring to me with the week night guests, I was rarely tuning in during the week. Second week or so of Jan 2007, I just gave up. For months, I just stopped tuning in, towards the summer, I began catching Art on the nights he hosted, usually Sundays.
This show was inspired by a Dean Koonce book, Life Expectancy. If you recall, Art had interviewed Dean in the past, and in summer of 2006, Ian interviewed Dean for 2 full episodes over the course of 2 consecutive saturdays, a part one and a part 2.
Lots of great calls on this episode, the topic was Worst Days. People were cheery on this holiday weekend, and it was exciting to have 3 full nights of Art to enjoy over the weekend, even if the sat night, Dec 23rd show was kind of a dud (Autism and the Greys was the topic, guest was William McDonald).
Some far out calls in this one, ranging from the no way, to the no way they made this up. Almost a Truth or Trash style episode.
I clearly remember listening to this one, my then job had shut down till the Weds after Christmas, and I had a few days off ahead of me.
I tuned in the next weekend for Arts annual predictions shows, and soon after, I was seeking new over night entertainment. Ten years of listening pretty much nightly came to an end,

The UFO Phenomenon-Peter Jennings/ with Art Bell segement.

This is essential viewing for any Art Bell fan. Art and Coast is featured in this amazing ABC prime time special from 2005.
It aired on a thursday night, I was at work, but taped it and rushed home to watch the tape. Art had been mentioning it on air in the weeks leading up to it's release.
One of the best UFO docs ever produced if you ask me, its mindblowing this was produced and aired on a major tv network, in prime time hours even.
If you have never seen it, the Art Bell segement alone is worth a look. It starts at about the 5 mins and 30 second mark, and features some great footage of Arts studio, his compound and he and Ramona talking about their UFO sighting, Art talks about the night of the Phoenix lights and the calls he was getting, and that leads right into a segement about the Phoneix lights, with some eyewitness accounts.
Here is the doc itself, and be sure and read the comments for some very interesting UFO accounts-

Here is an ABC news article from just before the doc aired-
