Acceptance with no experience

Hi everyone,

I know that a lot of people are accepted into the JET program and get placements with no prior teaching experience, however, I’m curious to know how much of an advantage visiting Japan - at least once - makes? I unfortunately have never gotten the opportunity to visit but I’m someone that has always taken an interest to do so. I’m asking because I feel that my lack of engagement with the country makes my application “weaker” or at least not as strong. I’ve taken Japanese courses in High School but never strong enough to get a good grade in (barely passing).

What was everyone’s experience? I’m confident to know that I can make my SOP relevant in terms of me moving countries and adapting to new environments, but I fear my lack of relation with the country (beyond the basics “I love the culture) would falter my application.

1 year teaching, Korea or Japan recommendation and experiences

Hi everyone, I’m a recent bachelor’s graduate and have been planning to teach English in Korea; however, I’m a bit on the fence about it since hearing some complaints.

From my understanding, Japan is a strong candidate for those who enjoy learning about the culture, but is hard to be financially comfortable. Korea has a high suicide rate, not as polite people, air quality sucks, but you save a lot better and working hours are better for EPIKS (might be wrong as I’ve read debating comments).

I didn’t major in education and have no experience in teaching, however I’m getting my TEFL and planning to learn the language (beginner’s vocab) before I go. Since I’ll only be spending one year there, I wanted to know what the RECENT experiences are like (I’ve only read a lot of threads from years ago) and which would you recommend?

Background: I loveeee kdramas and kpop - I obviously do not expect it to be straight out a kdrama but this has been a motivator for my decision. Japanese culture I’ve respected and is curious about, but not as passionate as other people.

Note** another thing is, I don’t plan on staying longer than 1 year as my skill set is ill-suited and I have no interest in long-term stay, therefore, I’m really there to “see the word” per se, and find independence. And connect with Asian culture.

Shoreline skirt sizing

LIONESS shoreline sheer midi skirt

Seems that every model is wearing a Small and has the same sizing of waist to me (especially those on revolve). I ordered a small from urban outfitters and it’s so so big, was wondering if anyone has a small for reference and if it fits perfectly on a 25 waist? Maybe I got a mislabeled one?
