Train Cancelled, LNER want me to go through Trainline, Trainline says LNER

So basically me and my partner were trailing to Hendon from Sowerby Bridge, we got the Northern train to Leeds which was on time at 10:58am, got on the LNER train at 12:10 and they cancelled due to someone jumping in the tracks in Stevenage, the people at the station told us to get on a train to Sheffield and a train to London from there as they weren’t going to be done cleaning the station until 3pm. So we did that, we arrived in London at around 4:18pm and got on the train to Hendon at 4:33pm which got us to our destination at 5:05 pm. These were advanced singles as we were picking up a new car and driving our way home. Now this is where the issue starts:

I can’t claim for a cancellation refund as we still traveled to the destination but when I’ve tried to claim through LNER for Delay Comp they say that the train was cancelled so I should claim for cancellation through Trainline, Trainline says I still did the journey so I should claim for delay through LNER. Am I doing something wrong or what? I paid £70 for the tickets, and ended up at the garage 2 hours late, so damn right they should pay me back. I won’t tell you about all the following issues we had….. it was a long day and riddled with bad luck 🙄 basically we got back home after midnight….

Car written off, settlement paid, not sure what my next option is

So my car was written off, apparently repairs would’ve been £3.5k and my car is only worth £2.7k 🙄

It was a claim made against the 3rd party, 100% liable as he reversed into me whilst I was parked. I still have the courtesy car paid by my insurer until Monday, my car is due to be taken to their co-part garage today, they gave me £2.4k as settlement due to some damage to the door (my own fault that I never claimed on obviously) I’d say that’s a fair price.

However, I was looking at quotes on other cars and it’s going for to be extortionate to insure for a crappy car I don’t even want. Cheapest option I’ve found is a 59 Honda Civic which I wouldn’t mind having but that’s £1.7k which leaves the question why is that cheap for under 100k miles, it’s 1.3k for me to insure but monthly it’s £450… per month!! How on earth is that even a conclusion. I have 30 days to get a car before my insurance cancels or I can cancel myself but have to pay the remaining premium as the claim is still ongoing. If I pay this, and wait to save some money for a better car that’s going to last longer than a year I’m then going to have a gap in insurance coverage even though I don’t have a car and that will increase my premiums again, so I don’t know what to do, any advice I would be grateful for
