Before and after. New EFGs got their permanent install.

Company is new to Unifi so we stuck EFGs in a few locations with DHCP disabled so we could test how some devices would react to using site magic/remote AD DNS.

Not super knowledgeable on Cisco, I got it to work about 99%. The previous setup was done so poorly by the previous IT manager like 6 years prior. He wasn’t very competent…

The business switch stayed as an emergency since this is a 2 hour drive from our head office.

New UPS units didn’t go in the rack. We weren’t certain it would stay on the wall if they did.

Cisco switches are EOL on 8/31, just wasn’t in the budget this year with $50+k on just firewalls.

Rack I finished up today.

Decommissioned old Cisco ASA firewall for redundant EFGs, and discarded a media converter Since the ISP has bare fiber into an SFP transceiver. WAN switch is inbound, just waiting on the reseller.

USW-48 is the core switch with aggregate SFP links to each EFG and an aggregate link to our soon to be replaced Cisco Catalyst.

Slowly going full Unifi across the whole company. This is our 4th site so far to be changed over.

The Ubiquiti switch here is just for our CCTV/Security systems. Cisco runs all the phones/PCs. Would’ve used the USW but it didn’t have the POE budget.

Local DNS hostnames/Active directory not resolving.

Anybody ever run into issues with local DNS names across sites?

We have a DNS server at site 1. Everything is working great and local DNS names resolve using our local server.

Site 2 is using the same DNS server as site 1, has working DNS for outside internet lookups, but it’s not resolving local DNS names. (Host.domain.local) Active Directory isn’t working either because of this.

I’ve got the local DNS server set on the WAN source and the VLAN we’re using but no dice.

What am I missing? I’m pulling my hair out trying to figure this out.

I love detail day. Like a breath of fresh air.

Spent like 4 hours today cleaning top to bottom and waxing. Waited a long time after winter since the Pennsylvania weather has been so unpredictable.
