Today I had a choice: complete my trip with 11 electrons left in the battery (ok maybe more) or top off at an EA site for a fast charge in order to keep me over 20% by the end of the trip.

VW warns me every time the battery charge is less than 20%, so obviously dipping into the teens and lower ain’t good. But we’ve also all heard that fast charging can be a hit to long term battery performance.

Ok so which of these degrades the battery more: dropping below 20% or fast charging?

(Before you say “don’t worry about it, just drive”, you’re probably right. But unlike some folks, I intend to keep my ID4 for a long time, so maintaining battery health is important to me.)
