The Boys (Spooky Story)

This isn’t my story, but my mom’s instead. Well, it’s really all of her siblings including her. It takes place in the 90s.

My mom’s parents moved around a lot for work. Strictly in the same state but different cities. They’ve never experienced anything haunting from my understanding until they moved into one particular house. My mom’s the oldest of the three. I believe when they lived in this house she was in her teen years. Anyways, I digress.

I don’t feel necessarily comfortable sharing the address of this home but just know it was a two story house with an attic, an in-ground pool in the back, and in the suburbs.

My mom’s youngest brother who was probably (4) around the time started stating odd stuff. That he was playing with “The Boys” but nobody had known of any boys he was playing with. It kind of spooked them out but they shrugged it off as “imagination”. Kids have creative minds so I don’t blame them.

My mom was home alone and heard what sounded like furniture scooting across the above floor (attic). She wasn’t sure if anyone had come home so she checked. Come to find out nobody was there. The sound was persistent. Not a little scoot here or there, but furniture that was moving fast and loudly. She called her mom freaking out and crying.

Side note: my grandma thought my mom was joking with her and when we ask her (today) she still doesn’t believe my mom.

So, overall there was always weird stuff happening and they called them “They Boys”. My grandparents researched and found out two boys from the 1900s died of a flu there.

How fast forward to (2023) my mom and I were in the car. We moved 8 hours away from our hometown (the same town the house was in). Her youngest brother moved almost 24 hours away.. but the middle brother stayed in that hometown. He has 4 children. This is important to note. Their middle child whose I believe (7) plays soccer and the soccer coach invited all of the players to their house for a pool party. When my uncle saw the address he realized it was their old house (the one with “the boys”). For context he’s never talked with his son’s coach and wife outside of just soccer. So, he went up to them to tell them that used to be his house. NOT ONCE did he mention any of the spooky things that used to happen, simply because he didn’t believe it.

He walks up to his son’s coach and wife and talks with them about how it used to be his old house in the 90s. The wife giggles and says “so you know about The Boys” and he said his face turned white. Like he was about to shit himself. Like I said they’ve NEVER talked to eachother. The wife giggled because she thought it was funny her younger kids would play with who they called “They Boys”. When he called my mom and told her she felt SICK. This is what made me believe in ghost.
