Has this happened to anyone else?
I’ve honestly had a terrible renting experience in Bangalore over the past two years.
First flat - within a year, the owner suddenly wanted to move back and even deducted one month’s rent from the security deposit.
Second flat - same story within just 6 months. When I politely asked for 2 more months to find another place, the owner literally shouted, “Pack your bags and get out.” My husband and I are not people who argue, so it was extremely stressful.
What frustrates me most is the double standard. Flats are handed over with stains, dust, hard water marks, etc., but during move-out they expect everything to be absolutely spotless. One owner even shouted at the Urban Company cleaning staff.
Every time we rented, we were assured the owners wanted long-term tenants. Has anyone else faced this? Do you take any extra precautions while renting in Bangalore?
