Moment of weakness

Hey y’all. Today I cried in front of my trainer. I was under a lot of stress due to the fact my previous trainer and I were not on the same page whatsoever and it spread around on that specific shift that I’m basically dumb (their words.) So, I told my new trainer how people at work have been treating me and basically sobbed. I know it’s silly to cry over something like that, but I worked so hard for this job just for people to view me as an idiot. My current trainer has approved for me to move onto my next phase and believes I am able to do the job, but it’s still discouraging to hear people basically talk sht on me.

Just curious. Have any of y’all cried during your training to your trainer? If so, what happened?

Toxic Trainer

Hi all,

I just started training about a couple weeks ago. I’m very passionate about wanting to do this job, however my trainer appears to have me doubt myself constantly.
I tried to not take things personally at first, as you’re told, but the more I worked with her, the more she nitpicked me. So far she’s:
-Complained I type too loud
-Complained I breathe too loud
-Repeatedly called me braindead / stupid
-Slams things on her desk when she’s frustrated w me
Etc.

It’s also gotten to the point where I can’t even ask her questions without receiving petty comments in return. She’ll say things like, “You seriously didn’t know that?” Or “I can’t believe you’re asking me this.”
Every call I take, she will lecture me while I’m trying to talk to the caller. It makes me nervous, which in return makes me mess up even more. It becomes a vicious cycle and it frustrates her even more. When I say lecture, I mean full on screaming and raging, by the way.

There was ONE day that it actually went pretty well. She came in with a smile on her face and actually treated me like a human being. My daily observation report was great that day. Then the next day she came in, her mood had changed dramatically and the day was filled with yelling and frustration yet again.
On my daily observation reports, she’s repeatedly put that I’m “argumentative.” I’ve asked for clarification on this and she just states that I should know exactly what I’m doing to be argumentative. I don’t. I have never once considered myself argumentative. I’m polite, quiet, and never debate anything when given instructions.
Recently she got so frustrated with me that I was pulled into a room spoken to by my night shift dispatcher supervisor, who in her own words, admitted that she can sense tension between the two of us, and pretty much my trainer no longer wants to train me. The plan is to move me to another trainer, but our supervisor has to approve of that action first. It hasn’t happened yet, which means every day I walk into that center I have to hold my breath and bite my fingernails because I’m just truly exhausted trying to work with my trainer.

I can’t lie, I’ve cried several times and thought about quitting already. But unfortunately I’m stubborn when it comes to my dreams, so giving up isn’t easy for me.

Please give me advice, or if any of you have any similar horror stories, share. It would help immensely.
