V6 Firebird as a first car?

Would a V6 4th gen Firebird be a decent first car? I’ve loved the Firebird since first sight, and I really want one as my first car, but I’m worried it won’t be reliable enough as a daily driver. I’m still in the process of trying to convince my parents, and I’ve given multiple presentations to them that were filled with days of research on why I really think that it would be a great car, but I just want to hear it from people who actually own the car. I know that I would have to make sure to consistently take care of it, and I’m willing to do so. Keep in mind that I wouldn’t be learning in this car, but I would be buying once I get my license and practice for a bit.

Potentially Non-running Firebird as a first car?

I was at a friends house the other day, and one of his neighbors has a Pontiac Firebird with what I’m assuming is the WS6 package. I am currently trying to figure out what I want as my first car, and I’ve always loved the Pontiac brand, especially the Firebird. My friend said it hasn’t moved once since he moved in 6 years ago, so it’s been sitting for at least 6 years, maybe more. All of the tires are flat, but the paint still looks really good and it looks like they have tried at least a little bit to preserve it. What can I say to the owner without being awkward? I’m worried that it’s a sore subject (maybe it was a deceased parent’s), and the last thing I want is to make them uncomfortable. Also, is it even worth trying to buy this off the owner on the off chance that it is in a non-running condition, considering it would be my first car?
