In northern Illinois, about an hour from Chicago - just found this on my head, looks like probably for a few days. Is this a dog tick or does it look like a deer tick?

I got this given in fluval stratum and I transitioned it to a small pot with dirt two weeks ago and now it looks like this and lost a leaf, is it just stress
