workout split

hey all! i just started going to the gym a couple weeks ago and am looking for advice on what my workouts should look like. my goal is mainly to build muscle but i would also like to lose a little fat. right now i go 3x a week and have been trying to hit full body via 3 sets of 6-7 exercises every time i go. however, i haven’t quite been able to hit every muscle group every time. would it be more effective to pick more exercises and do less sets to hit everything? or should i do upper/lower/fullbody in 3 seperate workouts? thanks!
