Absurd 62 m3 water bill from Provident for a townhome for 1 month. Advice?

My partner and I just moved in Whitby and received an insane 62 m3 water bill from Provident. We are only two people who work hybrid schedules, and our todays manual 24-hour meter tracking shows our actual usage is completely normal at 276 liters -500 liters per day. Customer service claims we have a "hidden leak," but their online portal is still registered under the previous owner's name, proving they failed to process our closing paperwork properly. Even worse, their portal graph shows 0m3 of usage for 29 days straight, followed by an impossible single-day data spike of 57.4 m3 on May 30th, right when the physical meter didn't move at all.
It's completely obvious their remote transmitter is glitching and dumping the old owner's unread history onto our account. I have already sent a formal dispute to management stating I am withholding payment until this is resolved, CC'd my real estate lawyer, and am running a strict zero-use overnight test tonight to finalize my proof. Has anyone dealt with sub-metering companies pulling this? Any advice on how to force them to admit their administrative and system error? Thanks
