Will my grade appeal get approved?
I just finished my intro to philosophy class and received an overall B due to an essay grade being a 70. It was a short essay assignment with unclear minimum word count and given the assignment had the word “short” in it, I only wrote about 400-600 words. After receiving the grade and reading the comments, it basically said I lacked details and stronger evidence but how was I supposed to do that fully and get all points on the rubric in 400-600 words. I then emailed my professor explaining my concern as the grade I got was extremely unlike me and was given the green light to re-do the essay and he even said “yes you may redo and submit it and I would be happy to regrade it”. After emailing my new essay, I gave him about a week or so to grade it but no updates so I did a follow up email replying to my resubmission and all he said was “Thank you!” to it. Still no changes in my grade. Following the week’s short essay assignment 2 was due and I ended up scoring a 94 on it. I emailed again expressing my concerns as I’m a 4.0 student and I needed to keep that GPA for transfer scholarships and no reply. As the last week was coming up, I did follow up emails spreaded out throughout the week and still no reply. I just send my appeal form and I was wondering is this valid enough to get it approved? I ended with a 88.3 but I went through the grade book and calculated if I had gotten a 80 and that would’ve nudged me into getting an A.
