Invasion of the Champs had so much potential

Every time I watch this season I get annoyed that they made the team numbers uneven. They set us up for so much hype and then ripped it away. Deflated in a single moment.

The uneven format only makes sense if the underdog team is comprised of people who have *never* played in a challenge.

The concept is really entertaining and starts off being executed SO WELL. Every time I restart, I’m like yes I am SAT….and then they bring the Champs in for the first challenge and I am annoyed all over again watching piles of people fight in a game that is 100% impacted and influenced by how many people you have on your team.

Yea they’re champs, but they’re not super human and don’t have *that* much of an advantage over players like Tony, Corey (who *has* placed in a challenge final) Dario, Jenna, Ashley etc. Tony and Camila were literally partners on the season previous.

Production must have thought the Champs would dominate and it would be boring, but the opposite ended up happening.

The season would be so much more enjoyable if we had Evelyn and Paula, maybe Rachel, even Sarah (but i’m sure this season she would have denied attending after the way the previous season ended.) Ashley feels like a weird choice but that makes me think they did reach out to other Champs who turned it down.

The excitement and tension built up by the Champs walking in and the surprised being revealed, is completely torn down and payoff dashed when they get dog walked by the underdogs in the very first game. You don’t even get to see anyone show off their skills or any real ability because if you get enough people to sit on one person, they won’t be able to do anything no matter how good the player is.

Curious if I am alone in my annoyance?

Edit: to correct Ashley’s name.
