Have been playing mw2 for the last couple of months and my free trial of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate ran out, so I paid for the Essential Game Pass subscription level, but am not getting this error message when trying to play online…

“The current profile is not allowed to play on Xbox live”

Do I need the ultimate game pass to play online? I own the game. Made sure no privacy settings somehow changed, logged out and logged back in, did all the tricks, still won’t work.
