Tested Control Resonant on Z13, PX13, Lenovo Yoga 7i (Intel + 5060), and a desktop

I went down the nerd rabbit hole today. I really wanted to know how much faster the laptops I'm considering are for real world gaming. I ran the Lenovo Pro 7i Aura, the Asus Proart PX13, and the ROG Flow Z13 on Control Resonant. It's not a perfect test as I didn't try to run the exact same scenes, but it was all within the same level.

I was very surprised at the results. PX13 and Z13 both beat out the beefier GPU on the Lenovo. Claude thinks it's because the wimpy charger on the Lenovo just can't push enough power into the 5060 to make it worth it. The Lenovo does have a creator mode where the computer drains faster than the charger can keep up, but I think that's kind of cheating.

I was also surprised at how well the PX13 kept up with the Z123, given it's got a much thinner profile and less sophisticated cooling. I didn't even run it in "tent" mode. The fan was facing down on my desk.

I think the so what of all this is that PX13 and Z13 both do an amazing job of running games. The question is whether you want OLED at 60 hz (PX13) or IPS at >120hz (Z13). I still don't know the answer for me.

Stylus recommendations?

Already have my first question. Weirdly best buy didn't stock the Asus pen 2.0. I bought a surface pen as I heard it's compatible. Pretty bummed when I realized it doesn't come with a charger. I ordered the metapen s2. Note taking is a pretty big use case for me so I want a nice pen.

Just got a Flow Z13!

Picked up an open box 32gb 1TB model at my local Best Buy for $1,900. This thing rocks. Excited to eventually try linux on here (I switched to linux on my desktop PC). I really like the display. I don't miss the OLED with the crazy high refresh screen. Keyboard kind of sucks.

I'm a little bummed I missed the July BB sale. 64GB would be amaze-balls.

I just started checking out this forum. Would love any immediate advice or feedback.

Probably going with Kuat Ibex - looked at Leitner, Xtrusion Overland, and Uptop

Just got a GMC Sierra 1500. I have a Tepui LowPro 3 that I've used on two other vehicles so far. I want to eventually move to a hard shell tent, but the Tepui works great for me so far. I would have loved to go Leitner as it seems burlier, but they don't have a mid-height option. From prior experience, the soft shell tent is just so much easier at a mid-height. It's easier to install and removed, it significantly improves mileage, and reduces road noise. I really like the Leitner gearpods, but I don't need them and I can always go with the gearpods roof one.

BUT I am worried about the weight capacities. Leitner says 400 pounds off-road and 800 pounds on road capacity for the forged model (with their clamps and the support arm). Kuat only quotes a 300 pound number. I think I'm okay as I'm very unlikely to do any crawling. It's going to be a lot of on-road camping, with gravel and dirt roads in national parks throughout the southwest.

I know lots of others have the Leitner, and I don't need reassurance about it's strength. I'm wondering if other Kuat users are having issues with the durability and load on their racks?
