Request for comments on a simple/clean wiim setup.

I'm looking for a countertop set up with a turntable. Not wanting to limit myself to a turntable with a built-in pre-amp and desiring as little equipment as possible (a clean look), I'm considering a WIIM ultra (as this seems to be the only wiim with pre amp). I understand this arrangement would require powered speakers, and I was considering something in the $300-$450 range similar to Klipsch r50-pm.

This will sit to one side of a fireplace in the living room, so I know I can't expect the best of sound, but I'm hoping the "room correction" will help some. In the end, I'm just trying to get the best with the money spent. Also, if the speaker is Bluetooth, I could move one to the other side of the fireplace.

A few questions.

  1. Does the above make any sense?

  2. Any suggested change like maybe a preamp, turntable wirh pre-amp, and a different wiim?

  3. Would feeding the wiim ultra into another wiim be better?

  4. What passive speakers for options 2 or 3.

I know this is a long question with lots of potential for comments. I'd really just like to hear others' opinions since I'm starting from nothing.

Thanks in advance.

As title states I'm looking for active speakers for a Sony PS-LX5BT turntable (considering wireless). Good but balance with the sound I'd probably get out of the turntable.

I'm not closed minded if someone has a suggestion for a better turntable or turntable, (small) amp, speakers i would consider it also.

Just trying to find a decent, setup not too expensive that doesn't take up a lot of space or have lots of wires.

Thanks
