Major Incident at Work
Today at work (corporate salon) there was a major issue. We had a family of 5 yorkies one for every groomer and due to the heat in the back 3 out of the 5 ended up overheating. This happened at the end of the groom when I went to go to the kennel area 5 minutes after finishing my yorkie to grab a towel to clean my supplies and noticed how hot and humid the door kennel space is so I propped open the door. Thats when I saw my coworkers dog flopped over with a blueish tongue. I immediately pulled her out to the cooler table area. Called for the managers and said she needed the vet. They ended up all going 10 minutes later when mom came and thats when we found out 3 needed oxygen. I'm so distraught and angry. My dog is luckily ok but I wished i noticed the others. I don't know what to do because the ones that are sick are the ones I have complained to other groomers about. I want to quit but there's no where locally hiring. And I feel awful but I am so scared about my reputation being here and the fact I am still a baby groomer. I don't know. I guess I am just here looking for advice? Reassurance? I don't know.
Update: The salon has been closed until the issue is fixed. I have today off but it seems like my talk and another groomer (she was like a mentor of sorts while I was going there schooling via the corporate) refusing to work caused them to take it seriously. I basically called the store manager after this post and lost it on her about the issues. I don't know if things will change permanently but I wanted to let you guys know because you've helped.
