Abstinence/purity culture amongst the younger character

I know this show is meant to be religious/preachy but anyone else find it weird that with a lot of the younger characters like Annie, Kyle and his gf being 18+ and leaving for college etc, the topic of sex wasn't even brought up once? Like that's completely unreaslistic to me.

Did the writers forget that...

Noreen's daughter is Ty and Katie's half-sister? Zero interactions between them this season.

Same for Peggy being Isaac's birth mom. They decided that they would build their relationship slowly but they completely dropped that storyline and they didn't interact at all this season.

They should have recast

They should have just recast Ty. Him never coming back home is just so stupid. It's very clear the actor is done with the show so I am not sure what is the end game here?

And I am not even a Ty/Annie shipper. I just hate how when an actor decides to leave a show, they write him off off-screen destroying all character arc/growth. Ty abandoning bis family after his dad died? Huh?
