Best Beaches Near Indiana (for kids)
Looking for the best beaches near Indiana to take a 6 year old solo.
Kid is a great swimmer, can dive 10 ft down.
We don't want to hike, camp, explore, etc...just go to the beach to swim and play in the sand.
Considering an ocean beach for the first time so I want his first ocean experience to be fun and magical, but it's a long travel with a high energy kiddo, so going to try a closer Lake beach first to do a trial run.
Goals
* Clear water
* Soft sand
* Close parking (on/right next to beach)
* Easy/short walk to beach, bringing wagon/sled with toys
* Close bathrooms (on/right next to beach)
* Budget friendly (important for ocean beaches)
* Clean/beautiful beaches
Some I've considered:
Ocean beaches
* Pensacola (reef nearby for snorkeling, soft sand, slide on beach)
* Grommet Island Park (playground on beach)
Lake beaches
* Warren Dunes (have heard it's less busy, willing to do a longer drive for clearer water and less busy beach)
* Indiana Dunes (closest drive, not sure which beach has the softest, cleanest, least busy area for sand/water play)
- Which beach would actually be best/most beautiful with most ocean like experience?
Need a very short walk to car with bathrooms on beach.
