Me and Michael video directors documentary

Hello my name is randy Lee Maitland, and along with famed and beautiful artist and director Joey Frank, I helped make the me and Michael music video.

We are now in the process of making a short little film about the making of the “music video”—and we are making the absurdly HUBRISTIC claim —that it is the most important music video of the last twenty years (whether that’s true or not, let’s just say that it’s time to pretend that it is)—

I’m including a screenshot of some texts I fired off to Mr. Frank about what I think the video and song means…but we want to hear from everyone what they think of the song and the video —and how the meaning of the song has sort of changed over time.

Maybe give the video another watch. Were we on to something?

TL DR I’m a man and to me, individually, it’s about navigating the toxicity of being a guy and what it means to be friends with someone or anyone in real time meat space and around the globe.

But that’s just my view. I could be totally wrong.

Anyway. We would love to hear from you! Thanks so much for your support and would deeply be appreciative of any feedback. And also will answer any questions you want to ask.

Sincerely,
Randy Lee

Ps. I will say the idea originally started off as doing a sort of thing for a funeral and it was Andrew’s idea to have this true faith global plagiarism angle—so we tried to weave all of it into one—and carry some stuff over from the little dark age video (which I also make a cameo in (I’m the guy in the fog Ben stares at))

Pps I’m using the word “make” too much I apologize!
