Zydeco in NOLA early November
Hi all! I’ve been lurking here a few weeks as we plan our first trip to New Orleans and I love the great answers people get on this sub. Our biggest focus for this trip is visiting Preservation Hall - we’ve been lucky enough to see them on tour a few times, but on locations has to be the best! A very close second is enjoying all the culinary delights of this fair city - and I may be back with future questions to help narrow our choices.
Third is that we’d like to hear some Zydeco / Cajun music - but without driving too far as we do not plan to have a car. I’m struggling to find much while we will be there, Monday-Thursday, November 2-5 (flying home Friday). I read that Rock n Bowl often has Cajun music on Thursdays but nothing is listed for that week, and I’ve checked out a number of other likely venues. What I have found is Mulate’s - which some people say is a tourist trap - and Tropical Isle’s Bayou Club - which I have seen less info about.
Is anyone aware of other nearby venues - or are either of the options I mentioned an ok choice? This is the only time I could get off work, and there is plenty to do without this, but I figured it was worth asking!
