How would you approach this in OpenSCAD? (details in post)

I'm trying to recreate the object on the right ("Clip Seat") in OpenSCAD. The object on the left is my current progress.

I know minkowski() can be used to round out edges, but I can't wrap my head around it beyond the basic cube/sphere examples.

I'm curious how you guys would go about recreating an object like this. How would you break the project up into modules/etc., such that it's possible to create the same kind of rounded edges of the original?

He was speeding and driving like an idiot, and sped away after the incident. The car that got hit had it coming, though, pulling out slowly in front of oncoming traffic with zero road awareness.
