Hardy, low maintenance, well behaved privacy plants for fence line

Hello Gardeners,

I have about 40 ft of fence along the back of my property that I'd like to grow some privacy plants along.

My preference would be native alberta options, but this is not a requirement.

Currently, there is a ton of leggy wild roses growing in that area, which makes walking through them unpleasant.

I am looking for some suggestions that would fill in the following

  1. low maintenance, low mess. I need something that responds well to aggressive pruning as needed.

  2. Well behaved (no suckers thank you so much). There is a golf course along my back fence. I do not want something that will spread aggressively into the golf course and cause maintenance and relationship issues with them.

  3. tolerant of growing adjacent to pines. The fence line has an unobstructed view of the sky, however it does not receive full sun due to being shadowed by the pine trees for a portion of the day.

  4. no taller than 2m-3m

  5. drought tolerant. Once established, i don't want to have to keep watering it

Intermittent connection issues vkb gunfighter with mk3 base.

I purchased a used vkb gunfighter with mk3 base. It originally had an extension on it, which I removed.

There were deep gouges on the connection pads attached to the base, which I presume was causing the connection issue.

A very quick and easy fix for this was to clean it thoroughly with alcohol, and then I flooded each of the 3 pads with solder to fill the holes in. It took approximately 30 seconds, and seems to have fixed the problem.

I thought I would pass this on in case anyone else has an older vintage VKB.
