This is a 2 part question. First i want to know the creative process, how to start and what to do. Secondly i'd love recommendations on software to help me creatively and map making tools.

So, how do you guys begin? Do you start with the history of the world? Or maybe the topography? Do you create the mythology before the races or leave this for later? What about creation myths?

What software do you guys use?

To help my creativity, i've started using azgaar for the world map and dwarf fortress to create centuries worth of events. Also using obsidian for a sort of wiki. Are there other software i should be using?

I've also read a bit on wonderdraft and inkarnate for map making, but havent really used them.
