How exactly I can prevent my evaporator coil leaks?

Hi all,

I'm just a regular homeowner and try to learn basic HVAC maintenance.
My 2014 Goodman evap coil (Part #0270D00618S**)** had a major leak over the weekend and our family decided to just changed the whole system.
The reason is because nobody in NJ willing to procure me the Goodman coil/installed it.
My companies flat out said that they are not willing to install aftermarket coil.
Only one person sent me a quote of $4400. Due to that, my wife just bite the bullet and pay for new system.

They installed Rheem Endeavor system yesterday and the tech literally mentioned that there is nothing I can do to prevent evap coil leaks.

I maintained my HVAC yearly (change filter every 3 months).

How true is this that Evap Coil is just a gamble and it can leaks any day? If so, should I just store a replacement coil in my house?

Condenser shut off for 3 seconds and immediately turn back on

Hi all,

I'm not an HVAC expert here, so advice will be appreciated before I call emergency tech.
I turn on my AC today around 3 PM since it was like 62 in the morning today.

I set the temperature to 74 (the thermostat reading is 78). It reach 74 in 30 min, but it keep "cool on" status for the next 3 hours.
Around 7 PM, I notice that my condenser briefly turn off for 2 second and it comes back on immediately though.
The thermostat still on "cool on" status and it does blow cold air.

It happened couple time, so I got panic. I turn off the thermostat, changed the battery, turn off the breaker to the condenser, and wait 10 min.
I turn the thermostat back on, switch to "cool" . It's 72 degrees outside, and it seems the AC cycle normally now (but it could be because outside temperature is not bad).

Anyone ever experience this? If so, what can I tell the technician to be prepared?
