Anyone have any information about Cal Poly Maritime?
Hi! I'm writing this previous to my application at Cal poly maritime. What are the requirements for an upper division transfer and how will my mental health past affect my application? I'm looking to major in Marine transportation. I understand that there is a lot of paperwork that needs to happen with my past. For a little background, I chose this profession as it will be extremely hard to get into the military with my past, and this was the absolute closest thing to the navy. When I was 12 I was in a very bad state. I was in and out of mental hospitals almost constantly for that entire year. Some were for thoughts and somewhere for actual actions. This only happened in a one-year period when I was 12. I have scars on one arm and one leg that are pretty significant. For this, I was placed on an IEP+504.It was my decision recently to get off of my 504 and IEP. By the time I reach Cal poly it would have been at least a year and a half by the time I wouldn't have needed accommodations. I'm speaking with my psychiatrist soon to get me stated in my charts as "in remission" for these diagnoses (mdd, anxiety, and ADHD). I understand taking my California proficiency program exam won't be able to get me into freshman status. I'm looking to achieve the title of upper division transfer from a community college. I plan on achieving 60 credits in the next year and a half ( or sooner ) And applying then. What can I do to strengthen my application? I am currently in the CACC and got a pretty hefty score on my asvab ( over 75 ). The only reason the military won't take me is because of my mental health past. I don't take any prescriptions that go against uscg standards and would absolutely love to go to cal poly maritime. Any advice?
