DTX6K5-M with Superior Drummer 3: velocity way too low, hard hits register as soft?

Hey everyone,

I've got my DTX6K5-M connected to my laptop via USB, running Cubase Pro 12 with Superior Drummer 3 as a VST instrument. MIDI routing is set to the DTX-PRO module and everything is working. I can trigger sounds in SD3 when I hit the pads.

The problem: the velocity seems way too low. When I hit the snare really hard, Superior Drummer only registers it as a soft hit. It's like the dynamic range is compressed or capped at a low level. This happens across all pads, not just the snare.

Has anyone run into this? I'm not sure if this is a setting in the DTX-PRO module, something in Cubase's MIDI settings, or a velocity curve issue in Superior Drummer itself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just set up my DTX6K5-M — any layout tips?

Hey everyone! 👋

Just got my DTX6K5-M set up and wanted to get your opinions on my pad/cymbal placement and overall layout. I know a lot of this comes down to personal preference, but since this is my first e-drum kit, I'd love to hear if I'm heading in the right direction or if there's anything that looks off.

A few things I'm specifically wondering about:
- Are the distances between the pads reasonable?
- Does the cymbal height/angle look right?
- Anything you'd move or adjust based on your experience?

Photos attached — any feedback is appreciated! Thanks in advance 🙏
