Installing new septic tanks next to large Cottonwood tree?

Hey everyone. We're under contract on a house in CO (heavy clay soil). The original concrete septic tank failed completely due to root intrusion. They're buried directly under a large Cottonwood tree. See photo.

The seller is replacing the tanks before closing. The contractor is putting in plastic Infiltrator tanks (a 1250 and a 500 gallon) and recommending leaving the tree and just moving the tanks about 15-20' south of the tree. He says because the new tanks are plastic with no seams, roots can't pierce them, so there's no risk. Plus, keeping it saves us a ton of cash in removal costs.

However, a different septic guy told me leaving a giant Cottonwood near the system is a terrible idea. He said the roots will still mess up the PVC pipe connections, choke the lines, or shift the tank alignment over time, even if they don't pierce the actual plastic hulls.

Getting a tree this big taken down is going to cost nearly 5 grand out of pocket. What would you do? Thanks in advance!

In 2022, I bought a new 2022 Nissan Frontier and paid over $1,000 to have the OEM "Nissan Virtual Key" hardware installed at the dealership. It worked great until recently.

I just found out that Nissan officially shut down support for the Virtual Key on December 31, 2025. This intentionally and permanently bricked the hardware I paid for.

I called Nissan Consumer Affairs to ask for a refund. They told me that because I "didn't receive an email," I am not eligible for a refund. However, I discovered the "refund" was just a $500 service credit to be used at a Nissan dealership.

I have my original invoice, and I just emailed their executive customer service team asking for a full cash refund. If they refuse, I’m filing a deceptive business practices complaint with the Colorado Attorney General and taking them to small claims court.

Has anyone actually managed to get a full cash refund for this? Is there a class-action lawsuit brewing for the Virtual Key shutdown? Warn anyone you know about buying digital/connected hardware add-ons from Nissan.
