Redesigned flag for an enlarged Merseyside. Thoughts?
I don't think Merseyside would be the most suitable name for this county, what else could it be called?
Due to the economic, cultural, social, historical links between West Lancashire and Merseyside, I thought about including it into this county. I also brought Hale and Widnes into the county. I suppose this would be a replacement for the current Liverpool City Region. I also read a post somewhere about how someone felt Merseyside didn't get the greatest deal in boundaries compared to Greater Manchester and thought this might balance it a little fairer.
This was a design I came up with quite quickly, I'm not sure about the middle between the crowns. I just thought it was quite nice and somewhat of an improvement on the current Merseyside flag used by the now defunct county council.
I extended Knowsley to include Hale and Widnes, and took Southport out of Sefton into the new borough of "Greater Ormskirk" which I don't think is the best name, perhaps West Lancashire could be preserved instead.
I haven't been able to come up with a new name for this county yet, I was thinking simply West Lancashire for the entire county, put you then have the obvious issue with the Wirral never have being in West Lancashire.
